Inkjet Art makes some pretty big claims about it's Museum Digital
Art paper saying it's the same formulation as PFA Hot Press, that it
can carry lots of ink and can reach "unheard of maximum densities".
Wow, sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else had experience with
this paper?

I'm also wondering if PFA Hot Press in the 205 weight or it's Inkjet
Art clone above is heavy enough to withstand buckling and if it gets
the mottled burnished look in the dark values that some other papers
get. I would also consider getting the 325 g/m2 version of PFA Hot
Press but I'm not sure it will feed into my 1280.

I'll be buying some sample packs to do my own research but I've got
a deadline coming up (don't we all) and am looking for a "safe bet"
paper for now that doesn't buckle, flake or mottle, not too much to
ask considering the price of these art papers.

Thanks,
Jim

That mottled burnished look in the dark values is overloading of ink
the paper can't absorb. Go to www.zuberphotographics.com and get the
black point/white point files to determine the maximum ink your
printer will print without burnishing and still be black in the image.

I think IJA's claims for Museum Digital are valid, if a little
overheated.

I also like Entrada Natural. I don't find it "flaking," I find it
dusty, perhaps not cut or packaged cleanly. I think it's fine if you
blow each sheet off with air or dust with a cloth before inserting. A
hassle, of course. I've read somewhere that Moab has addressed this,
but I've not ordered any recently.

sorry for double post of unheard of d-max

2005-03-09 by jimpegoda

Whoops, My first post had an exclamation in the heading and it
didn't post (until hours later I see) so I sent one out without an
exclamation and it posted in minutes. I'm not only new to b&w
printing but I'm new to groups too.

Thanks for the feedback about the various papers. I plan on doing
some serious testing of various papers and I'll post my findings.

Jim

Thanks Johnny,

There's some great info on that site. Unfortunately, the mottling is
visible on EEM at 75% black on my 21-step wedge; I guess that's why
it's a proofing paper. I just got a pack of PA Hot Press and it
seems to hold ink well so far.
