2200 Entrada question II

2200 Entrada question II

2005-03-09 by Mr_Misty_44

OK. Let me ask again. If you look at the Paper lever you will notice
A Paper symbol with a notch. An Envelope symbol and a notch. An
unidentified notch just below the Envelope notch and, of course the
bottom notch which allows you to feed in the paper at the back. MY
question then is, what is the third notch under the Envelope notch
for. I see that it lifts up the head just a bit more than the
envelope setting. Secondly, which setting should be used for the 300g
Entrada, the envelope or the unidentified notch. And, finally, in the
instructions, it tells you to do your alignments on a plain piece of
typing paper. If you are using 300g paper, should you do your
alignment with this paper installed and the paper lever set to what
ever is the correct setting(?)?
thanks,

John H

It's just a precurser to lowering the print head, it holds the paper in
place, and if it's not good you can realign it by lowering to the "fourth"
notch... Avoiding lowering the print head too much.

As said, the envelope. The unidentified notch doesn't lower the print head.

I don¹t agree with the instructions.

Yes. Use a scrap piece of your thicker paper you are printing with. Or the
back of a print you aren't going to use, test print... If you run some
tests, you'll see that by aligning with plain thin paper, then doing an
align on the thicker paper, it's different. At least it is for me.

Well here is a clue....as I said before the 2100 has a CD sign/notch just
below the envelope one. It is my understanding that the 2200 was not
shipped with this attachment. So perhaps, as I said before, it is for the
head height necessary for a CD to enter the front CD holder (which is not
supplied)....

I am not sure what you mean by alignment. One does head alignment tests
with plain paper. This is completely different from rear loading thick paper
and pressing the paper feed button so that the print head can align with the
inserted paper.

Once again, to use the rear feeder push the lever all the way down (flashing
light), insert the paper just past the rollers as seen through the lid,
gently align with the edge of the printer, lever up to envelope notch, press
the paper feed button.
