1280 clog ? new to this

1280 clog ? new to this

2005-04-01 by kellyhealy_jake

I just started doing B/W. I have a new (about 3 months) 1280 that I have UT2 inks with
carts I fill with bulk inks. they are not put in right away but sit in sealed containers for a
least a week. The light magenta position has has been having clogged nozzles on a daily
basis and is increasingly hard to clear. Clean three times- nozzle check and run a purging
test pattern. It seems to help to put a full cart. I get it back but it's getting expensive and
more difficult, It is only that position, the others are good. I run a nozzle check almost
every day. Thans Kelly

Kelly,

Go to MIS website and look up the new spongeless carts for the 1280.
I was having the same trouble as you, but when changed to the new
carts; all that clogging went away. I really think it was foam
buildup in the sponge. The new ones are filled from the top with a
syringe and needle and then sealed with stoppers. Witha bottom
adapter, draw just enough to start the ink flow and you put them in
the printer and if you check your nozzles with the nozzle check
you'll be pleasantly surpised to see all of them fire. You are ready
for a print almost right away after filling.

Johnny
