Refillable cartridges problem (from MIS)

Refillable cartridges problem (from MIS)

2005-04-02 by interrogtr

I've bought a set of refillable cartridges for UT7 ink from MIS. I'm
using it in an Epson 2200. Things were working well for a couple of
months but all of a sudden I'm getting air bubbles (foam?) in
several cartridges. It happened after I refilled them but I didn't
do it any differently than I'd done several times before without
prior incident. Nozzle checks indicate significant problems in
several cartridges. Purging the offending carts helps sometimes but
the problems come back almost immediately. Tapping them to try to
dilodge the bubbles helps a little but again, the problem comes back.

Are there problems with these cartridges after a couple of months?
Are you supposed to replace them after maybe 3 refillings? Does
www.inksupply.com still sell them (I couldn't find them on their web
site)?

I love the system but the printer is down. Anybody know anything
about this?

Thanks for any advice.

Elizabeth

That sounds a little worrying. Just bought two sets myself. Firts set
has only had one refill so far and all is working fine. If I have a
problem I'll let you know. Checked the MIS site this morning and they
are still selling the carts. Looks like they have reduced the price.

Hope you solve your problem.

Peter.

PS Have you asked MIS if this is a known issue?

I'm seeing this same behavior in my 2200 with MIS ez-fill carts,
also. Very frustrating, in that I work hard to purge the
bubble, get a clean nozzle check, and then it re-appears,
often as one large bubble over the output port. Tipping and
tapping clears it, temporarily. This is not happening in all
my carts--and I can't recall if I've ever let the ink levels
get extremely low in the one's that are affected.

In any case, I've decided I need to start over with fresh carts,
assuming I've compromised the ones I have somehow. What I can't
decide is if to replace only the one's that are showing the
problem, or just punt them all (2 sets--ouch) and start fresh.
