Refillable cartridges for Epson 1280

Refillable cartridges for Epson 1280

2005-04-16 by adolphamster

I've been reading a great deal about the problems people have had with
the MIS refillable cartridges. Now that the dust has settle somewhat
I'd like to hear opinions as to whether this is a prudent way to go vs
the conventional cartridges. I'm using an Epson 1280 and have been
using MIS UT2 and UTK prefilled cartdridges.

Thank you.

I've been using the 1280 carts since they were released, with
absolutely no problems. I should mention that when I got them, there
were no filler-hole plugs, so I've been using silicone, which may be a
more secure way of closing the fill port. IOW I suspect many of the
problems relate to air leakage through the fill port changing the flow-
rate of the cart. Pre-filled carts are obviously easier, but they are
much more expensive, and in that color cart wastefull since you never
deplete all chambers of ink. I reccommend you give the refilling a try,
you can always switch back.

I attempted to follow up on your suggestion but the MSI web page
indicates that the refillable cartridges are not now available for the
1280!!

But thanks anyway. I ordered some conventional filled cartridges and
will look for the refillable ones next time I order.

That's a shame, sounds like I got lucky if they had enough complaints
to pull the carts. I hope they'll get a fix from the factory and bring
them back soon!
