On Epson papers

On Epson papers

2005-04-16 by Henrik Frejborg

We all know about the weird practise of naming the same produkt
differently in the US and the rest of the world. Is Epson doing it with
papers as well printers? Or do they just sell different stuff in
different places?

I live in Sweden and there's no
-Enhanced Matte
-Ultrasmooth
-Premium Lustre
-Velvet Fine Art

What's the deal here? Is for example Enhanced Matte the same as
Archival Matte? Can somebody straighten this thing out, please?

Yes ... it is the same. Evidently a name like "Archival Matte" was false
advertising! Also, we've come to realize that the word "Archival" is relative.

Can't help with the other names ... sorry.

The first is Archival Matte. The last three are not available in Europe.

Hi Henrik,
Epson like a lot of companies buy in products from paper mills arround the world, some of which are ink-jet coated already and some they have coated with their own formulation. for example -Velvet Fine Art is the same as Sommerset Velvet Enhanced etc! etc! The Sommerset papers are made by Inveresk PLC which is part owned by Klippen in Sweeden.
If you want any other info contact me on +31 515 445 127 in Holland.

Best regards

John Edmunds

Hi John

I thought Epson argued that they got the substrate from St Cuthberts Mill
but that they put their own coating on it. That is, SVE and EVFA have
different coatings?

Any further news on Futures Inks?

Steve,
They have both coated and uncoated from that sorce and also from a USA supplyer.

Ref the Inks at long last almost all of the Beta Testers have got their ink now and a second large batch is on its way to the USA as I speak we have several good resellers ready, subject to finalising their agreements, so you wont have long to wait. there have been several new developments regarding the Ink and Cartridges also the "Pocket RIP" will be available at about the same time. If you send me off group you tel: No. or "Skype address" I would welcome a conversation this afternoon and can fill you in with some news you may find useful in your own right.

Regards

John

EHM and Velvet Fine Art are available from http://www.tsi-
europe.com/acatalog/info.html in sheets and rolls.

I had very quick and helpful service from them for a roll of EHM which,
I believe, is otherwise unavailable in the UK - or at least
Epson's "unhelp" line first denied that it didn't existed then, after
pressing them, said try Epson USA: as if I hadn't!
