C84 virgin empties-confused on priming

C84 virgin empties-confused on priming

2005-05-11 by Doug I.

Am having a little difficulty with the bottom fill adaptor (BFA)
priming procedure this first go-round. Can't seem to get ink to rise
into the syringe. When I press the BFA lightly against the ink outlet I
hear air hissing. When I press more firmly I get too tight a seal and a
pretty intense vacuum effect. Not sure if it makes a difference, but
this is regarding the black high-capacity (non-clear) carts. I haven't
had to fill the clear "color" carts yet.

How much pressure is needed on the ink outlet? I don't want to damage
anything.

Paul, I ordered the FADP you mentioned as a possible solution to avoid
cutting down the BFA, but wondering if that is in fact the right one
for C84 carts. Would you suggest trimming it? And if so, I'm assuming I
need to recreate the little notch in the tip.

Sorry for so much detail on what seems like such a simple little
procedure, but MIS is a little big-picture with the instructions for us
first-timers ;).

TIA,
Doug

2100 wheel holders - one wheel can't be lifted

2005-05-11 by Howard Shaw

Does anyone have a set of MIS wheelholders working with a 2100 (not 2200)?.
It seems to me there must be a difference in the way the 7th wheel from the
right - the first one on the right hand side of the CD bar - works between a
2200 & a 2100.

Depressing the CD bar on a 2100 does not lift this wheel as it appears to do
on a 2200 (judging from the MIS picture). As there is no notch above this
wheel to slip a holder into either I can't see a way to lift this one.

Any ideas?

Thanks
Howard

Yes I do - lift the wheel and then wedge the tie. It's a bit tricky but
works fine.

Doug,

That happens to me sometimes.

Insert the BFA and move it around a little bit. It's just not getting
into the right spot. Just give it a little wiggle.

Thanks Scott. Curious which BFA you have. My model #FADP (I think officially for the
7600/9600 carts?) seems pretty flimsy at the tip. Also wondering what I am trying to do
with the wiggling, etc.--am I trying to depress a spring or something to open the valve, or
is it more of a rubber nipple? It's hard to tell with the opaque high-capacity carts, and I
think knowing what is going on with the valve would help me refine my technique. ;)

Everything else about this setup has been super-easy. This is the only part I'm getting
hung up on.

O.K., first, I have the "MIS-BADP", that's what is listed on my
invoice.

Second, I don't know why I wiggle it. I guess when I have the same
problem you were having, I wiggled around the BADP and it worked for
me.

Re-filling these carts can be a PITA sometimes, but I feel it's worth
it considering the money I save.

Epson inks are a total rip-off, imo.
