How to Create Custom ICC Profile

How to Create Custom ICC Profile

2005-05-17 by mbrouphy

Looking for a workflow that defines how to create a custom ICC profile
for printer and paper. We use 3 different Epson printers on 2
different systems. My plan is to use an Epson Photo EX and Red River
Paper's Polar Matte notecard stock, and maybe their papers, to print BO
notecards and prints of my IR images scanned from the original HIE
negatives. ColorAny help would be greatly appreciated. Color art
prints 8x10 or over would be on a 2200 and color note cards on the same
stock on the C84. Thanks for your help. Mike Brouphy

If I understand you correctly, and you are printing Black Only (BO),
then there is no need to create custom ICC profiles. You'll get
whatever the color is of your black ink.

If that is your intent, you could print a 21 step grayscale on your
chosen paper, then create a curve adjustment layer in Photoshop so the
tonal range of your display matches your print. There are other ways
to do this too.
