Epson 2200 with MIS inks.

Epson 2200 with MIS inks.

2005-06-23 by mastedward

I am a b&w photographer currently printing with either a C86 with MIS
black/grey inks, or a 2200 using QTR (with Epson color inks). I am
not
dissastified with either, but (perhaps I'm getting greedy?!) would I
gain anyhing by going to the MIS black/grey inks for the 2200? And
if
I did that, would I still use QTR? Thanks, Edward

If you are refering to MIS UT7 inks for the 2200 then, yes,
definately. It's worth it. I recently started using them and it's made
all the difference in the world. That ebony black is something else.
You won't need to use QTR, just follow Paul Roark's workflow for the
Epson driver and install his curves. You won't regret it.

Yes, Steve - I'm referring to the MIS UT7 inks. I am currently using
them in the C86, including the eboni black. So the crux of my
quetion is, does using the 7 inks in the 2200 result in a noticeably
better print than the 4 inks in the C86? Thanks for your response,

If I may step in, the basic quality will probably not be that
different, the UT7 just gives more options like cool and warm toning.
I use the 2100/ UT7 combo since a year or so, before I had the 1160
with full spectrum inks, and the 2100 is faster and also a bit better,
specially on semigloss paper. However there is some bronzing on
semigloss and gloss, I personally consider to get maybe a dedicated
printer just to apply GLOP after the print.
