Re: [Digital BW] R2400 Cartridge Capacity

Re: [Digital BW] R2400 Cartridge Capacity

Don't know exactly, but the R2400 carts are more or less the same size as
the R1800 carts and the 2100/2200 carts, and according to Epson the
2100/2200 carts contain 18.3g +/- 0.5g ink of which at least 14.4g is
usable. About 1g is used for initial filling, and about 3g must remain in
the cart to prevent air getting into the heads.

How many ml of ink are in a standard Epson R2400 ink cartridge?

Hi again

Somebody else said:

"There is 13ml of ink in the R1800 and R2400 cartridges of which about 10ml is usable before the red light comes on. The 2200 has 17ml in each cartridge."

Judging from the prices of the carts, this looks logical, but I do not know.

Ukko,

The 2100/2200 ink capacity of 18.3 +/- 0.5g comes from the Epson Service
manual for the 2100/2200 - from the horses mouth! Don't yet have one for the
R1800 or R2400.

Volume will be slightly less than that, since ink is slightly more dense
than water.

Ukko,

Just weighed some of my R1800 full and empty carts. Full they weigh 38g, and
empty (continuous red light) about 24g, so that gives 14g of usable ink,
quite a bit more (50%) than 'somebody else' said, and about the same as the
2100/2200. Can't do that with the R2400 yet, since spare carts are not yet
available in the UK.

more 2400 first impressions

2005-07-02 by Sam McCandless

Here

<http://www.outbackphoto.com/printinginsights/pi036/Epson_R2400.html#20050701>

is another early report on first impressions, this time of the R2400
- a "review diary" by Uwe Steinmueller, who also appends both a link
to extra R2400 generic profiles from EpsonUSA and notes on a
comparison of R2400 and R1800 prints.

No ambivalence here: this initial reaction to the R2400 is almost
entirely positive.

Here's a quote which is interesting in the context of recent posts on
this list about black-only (BO) printing:

>[snip]
>What about printing with Photo Black (PK) on matte papers?

>Even as Epson provides profiles for the Enhanced Matte paper using
>the PK ink we advise against it. We did test prints with both inks
>on Enhanced Matte paper and found colored artifacts in a dark black
>gradient using the PK ink. These artifacts were not present if we
>used the MK ink.
