I just returned from CompUSA and while there, I found " PremierArt Matte Scapbook Photo Paper for Epson" (20 sheets, 8.5"x11",) for 98 cents! CompUSA is "discontinuing" this paper. Unfortunatly, they only had 1 box left. :>( If you like this aper, you may want to check your local CompUSA store. FWIW, Scott

Whoa. Thanks. I'll get up there asap. I believe it is inkjetart.com museum digital art paper, coated both sides. Not great, but pretty good, paper.

Ken, I was just wondering if you found any of this paper at that price. I was disappointed how that paper printed with my C86 and MIS EZ inks. However, call me a "simpleton", but I love the way it printed BO prints. I'm sold on BO printing. Although, I can understand why someone won't like it if they didn't like "grain". Sorry for going off on a "tangent" (lol!), Scott --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, "Ken Carney" <kcarney1@c...> wrote: > Whoa. Thanks. I'll get up there asap. Hello Scott, >However, call me a "simpleton", but I love the way it printed BO >prints. I'm sold on BO printing. I doubt you're a simpleton, and there's certainly no need to be apologetic for liking BO. Some people like vanilla, some like strawberry and some like chocolate. In the "Dark Ages" some went for the AA look and some liked 35mm Tri-X in Rodinol. No reason for it to be different now. Here's a quote from an email I received recently from someone who got several of my prints: "Sitting here looking at b&w prints made using piezogaphy, ut7/qtr, and eboni bo, your bo prints really stand out in their clarity and openness. I really like them." There are lots of BO lovers out there and I regularly receive emails with similar testimonies, so you're in good company. There is also a good possibility that the color problem will be solved and the 2BO technique (2 blacks only) will give us the best of both worlds: all of BO's positive attributes without the graininess, giving us yet another option. Scott,
Nope. I think anything for sale at CompUSA for 98c would be snapped up
immediately, even if the purchaser didn't know what it was. As I recall the
paper was OK with the 2200, and IP had a profile for it. But I don't think
it was as good as PhotoRag or EEM. I think inkjetart.com billed it as a
"basic" paper. I've tried BO printing, but a lot of my photos are not
wanting for grain in the first place, so I'm not sure I want to add more!
Best regards,

Clayton, For my personal work, I'm using BO. I plan on getting the 4800 sometime this year. Maybe then I'll use something other than BO. Until then, I'm sticking to "black only". At normal viewing distance, you can't even see the "grain", but you do notice the "sharpness"! I think Epson Scrapbook Matte is the same as PremierArt Hot Press. Not quite as bright as the other two papers you mention, but its longevity should well exceed EMM and it also might retain its original look a little better than PhotoRag--depending on whether or not OBAs really turn yellow or not, which, after reading about, I certainly don't know for sure. I like PHP, but it took some tweaking to get it to match (close enough for my purposes) EEM proofs. --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, "Ken Carney" <kcarney1@c...> wrote: > Scott, > > Nope. The BO prints I made with that paper look great. I wasn't able to make a good print with the MIS EZ inks, though.: > ( I love the warm paper tone for portraits. Since Scrapbook paper seems to be a bargain, I've put a curve on my website at http://home1.gte.net/res09aij/C86-curves.html that gets a near perfect print out of my C86. I don't have slider settings that work well. Gamma 2.2 with the sliders at neutral 0 is OK except that the deep shadow contrast is not very good. So, this monotone curve applied to a grayscale file should do the trick. I have also added a note about the possible microbanding if the file is not at 360 (or 720, which I consider overkill). (Thanks Jeff.) Paul
