Obsolete films

2005-07-04 by Richard Smallfield

Hi,
I wondered if there is any history of the smaller film makers buying the rights to produce obsolete lines of film.

I'm just musing of the demise of APX 25 and Tech Pan ...

All I have of these is three rolls of Tech Pan 120 in the freezer.

There has been and there will be smaller film manufacturers that take
over recipes and/or licenses of emulsions that are no longer produced by
bigger companies. Like Adox films got a new life after the German
manufacturer ceased production of consumer films decades ago. The plant
equipment more or less was sold to Croatia then and became Efke. The
Adox brand name has a different history meanwhile. Often clones of films
are produced by smaller factories. Not all films will survive but one
may expect that some Ilford, Agfa and Kodak films worth it will be
produced by others in the future.

One day you will probably find them all listed at FotoImpex:
