noob qtr question for R2400

noob qtr question for R2400

2005-07-21 by Scott Jones

Greetings:

I am printing with the new R2400 and thought I would try QTR and
compare it to the AWB feature of the Epson R2400 driver. I am on a
WindowsXP platform and have downloaded the version 2.3 and am using
the
Windows GUI.

My R2400 printer shows up in the printer selction menus, but there
are
no curves to pick from in the curves selection menus. Does this mean
that I can't use this printer with QTR because there are no available
curves for it yet? My intention is to print on Photo paper with PK
and
the UC set. I am not up to speed enough to create my own curves.

Any advice?

Scott

Scott,

I put a few QTR profiles for printing to Ilford Smooth Pearl with the
2400 on my file sharing site. Download the Quad2400 archive:

Carl, thanks for the pointer. Perhaps you could help some more. Your
files are .icc profiles and .txt files.

Where does one put these in the QTR program for WindowsXP? The file
types in the Windows QTR program folder are .ppd files in the PPD
folder, .qidf files in the Profiles folder, .quad files in the QuadTone
folder, and generic .icc files in the ICC folder.

I am baffled as to where to put your files and not sure which kind to
use, the .icc or the .txt.

Thansk for any help you can give....

I use a Mac, so I'm not sure about file management on a PC. I think that the .txt files are
equivalent to your .qidf files and your .quad files are generated from the former, but I
don't know how you do this on a PC. The icc profiles are not specific to QTR and go
wherever all of the rest of your RGB icc profiles are stored. You use the icc profiles when
setting up print with preview in Photoshop as a print space associated with the
corresponding QTR profile you intend to use for printing. I think on the PC this is not
done for you on the fly, as with a Mac, and you have to first convert your file to this space
before printing. I'd suggest you ask for help with these matters from other PC people who
use QTR.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
