Digital BW, The Print

Hi, 
Hoping the sage wisdom of the 2200 users in this group can help...

I have a new problem on a several year old Epson 2200. A while back I 
was using MIS UT7 inks and I suddenly developed some banding that 
wouldn't clear using the tips in the knowledge base. Ultimately I 
deciced to switch back to Epson UC inks and after a few 
cleanings/purge prints things were fine. 

I use the printer every so often but certainly not every day. I last 
used it a week ago and it was fine. I went away for nearly a week 
(and while I was gone the temp soared to 100 degrees) and when I went 
to print I had horrific banding and it looks like Cyan has stopped 
printing entirely. I had some other carts that were running out of 
ink so I replaced those (with Epson UC). At this point, Cyan and Lt 
Cyan do not appear to print at all...Lt Black barely does. All others 
band as well. 

I've tried all the clean/clean/clean print clean/clean/clean tips. Is 
my only recourse at this point to use the cleaning fluid on the dump 
sponge?

First check that the MIS carts don't have air bubbles around the poppet
valves - re-prime them if need be.  Then if that isn't the problem, soak a
paper towel in Windex (Windolene or other similar product), shift the head
out of the way and raising it up with the lever, place the paper towel on
the parking pad, slide the head across over it and lower it.  Leave it to
soak overnight.  Do max 3 cleans in the morning and print the MIS test
pattern several times.  If that doesn't work then soak again.
