QTR + 2200 UC + EPSG - What Profile/Curves works Best?

QTR + 2200 UC + EPSG - What Profile/Curves works Best?

2005-08-23 by Scott McLoughlin

I just got a deal on 3 boxes 13x19 Epson Premium SemiGloss (from
a friend), and would like to try QTR with some glossy paper.

What supplied QTR curves setting might work best with EPSG? I
thought I read some months back that the EPSG curves might not
be the best option, or I could be misremembering.

Any "gotchas" to anticipate with QTR on this glossy paper?

Any and all counsel appreciated. Thanks!

Scott

I've gotten outstanding results with Permajet Oyster curves for semi-gloss
paper. In fact, it is so good, I pretty much haven't messed with anything
else (non-matte).

I have a 4000 and unfortunately there is no predefined curve for
Permajet oyster papers. Would anyone happen to have that curve
available for the 4000?
Thanks,
SteveB

Steve - I can't help you with the specifics of your question, but can
offer a possible solution. Select a few close matches among the
existing QTR 4000 curve sets. If you don't already have ICC profiles
for these, download what you need. Make sure you have the profile for
the Permajet Oyster paper. Softproof one of your RGB files with these
profiles. Find the closest match to Permajet Oyster. Open the
corresponding QTR curveset and save as the new Permajet Oyster
curveset and then relinearize with your Oyster paper. - Andrew
