Does QTR support the Epson 4800? And, is it possible to print on matte papers without using "Black"? I need to keep PK in my printer for printing color on glossy, luster, .... Went to the QTR website, but couldn't find the answer to my 2 questions. Thanks, Scott

Yes. I have done curves for HPR, PJ Omega, PJ Alpha and EAM. > > And, is it possible to print on matte papers without using "Black"? > > I need to keep PK in my printer for printing color on glossy, > luster, .... No you need the black. But it only costs about £19 to swap K inks. If you have come from the 21/22/2400 world think about this: a 220ml ink cartridge costs £47, a 21/2200 cartridge about £10. The 220ml cartridge takes about 18x the amount of ink in the 21/2200 cartridge. (I'll let you do your own calculations in your own currency.) Changing the K ink is rounding error and easily recouped from your ink cost savings - unless of course you change it for every print. You don't buy a Ferrari and then worry about your petrol bill...

There is a UC-NoBlack-neutral profile for the 2200. You could do the same thing for the 4800, but with 2 light inks rather than just one. It mixes light cyan and light magenta with the light gray to make the black. You could also try mixing full strength cyan and magenta, since the 4800 has two light grays, that could be better; I have no idea, it would have to be tried. The curve description is below. Note that the black ink is limited to 0, so it is not used. The 4800 is supported, but the only curves are for the MK ink. You would have to create your own curves using PK if you are not happy with the results using MK curves. -Stephen www.sbillard.org/Stephen
