Hi It's downright lazy not doing the legwork, but what are the best deals anyone can recommend at the moment for Eye-one photo? (US or Europe) Cheers Richard

Richard, I just bought the previous Eye-One model (no Teflon feet or Fast Read) from Michael Tapes at RawWorkflow.com. It is currently listed at $900 on the discussion forum at their website: http://www.pictureflow.com/forum/showthread.php?t=7449 Regards, John T --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, "aimforth" <r.tugwell@a...> wrote: > Hi > > It's downright lazy not doing the legwork, but what are the best deals > anyone can recommend at the moment for Eye-one photo? Beware that you miss out on a lot of software with the "old version". You can't profile a digital camera (although one can debate the extent to which this can be done anyway) and you do not get the ability to edit profiles. This additional software is part of the new package - as well as the enhancements to the physical device (including an increased measurement rate). PS: Please trim your posts

Steve, Do you or anyone know of upgrade paths for the Eye-One Pro? I have one of the older models without the incident light capabilities and wonder if there might be a trade in. DaleH

The profile editing software is not yet available, in spit of the claim by GM that it would be out onto the market by the middles of 05. Richard

However if you happened to have an old Xrite DTP22 kicking around like I do, it might be worth the $200 trade in value.

Download the latest i1 match and you can upgrade to scanner and digital camera and no doubt later, to the profile editor. Richard

Hi If you do buy the Eye-One and want to use it with digital photography, I believe you may also have to buy a separate color chart that works with the software...unless they're including it with more recent packages. ____________________________________________________ Start your day with Yahoo! - make it your home page http://www.yahoo.com/r/hs

Michael I believe you are referring to the colorchecker. I bitched when my package (bought end Dec last year) did not include the chart and they sent me one for nothing. My understanding is that the new package does include the chart but I may be wrong.

Thanks to everyone who replied to my original post. I learnt a lot of useful things, quite apart from the price. This is why groups like this are so useful and, in society, a rather unusual feature. For anyone interested, here's a link to an article about this kind of thing. (OT, but I think it's relevant to the group) http://www.lrb.co.uk/v27/n16/less01_.html Cheers Richard --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, "aimforth" <r.tugwell@a...> wrote: > Hi > > It's downright lazy not doing the legwork, but what are the best deals > anyone can recommend at the moment for Eye-one photo?
