Which Inks with Black Only

2005-09-06 by mjvendrell2

Hello, i'm new to this group. i have begun printing Photos to be
painted upon onto Arches Cold Press and have gotton the results i'm
after using a 2200 with epson's Matte Black ink. The prints come out
sort-of platinum-like - slightly soft but pleasing so. I'e also used
the "watercolor" profile with the Epson software.

Now my question - what would a change of ink do - e.g. - the Ebonie?
And does the BO use any of the light black or only the dark black.
Thanks very much...Michael Vendrell

Epson Matte Black is warmer than Eboni. BO is just that, no Light Black
involved. I do not understand you "slightly soft" comment. Are you printing
BO at 2800?

The "softness" to which i refer is a result of the texture of the
cold press paper and it's lack of coating...michael

Re: Which Inks with Black Only

2005-09-08 by Tony Bonanno

HI Michael,

As already pointed out, Eboni will give you a more "neutral" cooler
tone using BO than the Epson Matte black. When using BO, only the
matte black ink is used on the matte/watercolor/art paper settings.
Pantone matte black pigment is essentially identical to Eboni black
also. Have you checked out Clayton Jones' BO webpages ? Worth a look
for sure..

cheers,

Tony
