Hello, Has anyone tried this paper? Is it for PK or MK? By description it is a rag paper with a polymer finish and a luster surface. Cannot find out if it has a microceramic surface. Any information appreciated. Thanks, Paul

Description of this paper is similar to the Hahnemuhle Photo Rag Satin. I'm also curious about user experiences with the PA Luster Rag paper. I have used and like the Hahnemuhle product, but would prefer a similar paper and coating with slightly less texture. --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, "bwinkjet" <bwinkjet@y...> wrote:

Hi Carl, Yes, I too have tried HPR Satin and found the surface to have too much texture. I am coyping the response to a query from Premier. "Hi Paul, Yes this is one of our PremierArt fine art inkjet medias. The reason you have not found this on our web site is do to the constant reconstruction and updates that are in progress. A pdf will be posted soon. Mean while let me try to assist in product description. A 100% cotton rag base with a luster finish coating. This paper and coating is 100% acid free so the product is archival. Photo Blk ink is recommended yet matte blk can be used. An instant dry coating technology is in place. With matte blk ink you will see some gloss differential but this can be eliminated with PremierArt PRINT Shield as a finishing process. No need to change ink sets yet Photo blk is preferred. The product was developed and designed to emulate silver halide Brita photographic paper. If you are looking for a microporus RC inkjet luster paper please choose our PremierImage Premium Luster 10.4mil paper. Regards Mark M. Perez Premier Imaging Products" Sounds promising. Will order some from Atlex and try it. Paul, Thanks for the info. Sounds like the coating might be different from the HPRS if PA is recommending PK black. Using a 2400 with k3 inks, the HPRS works best with MK (dmax 1.7+) and PK gives a very low dmax (1.4). Carl

I tried some of the PremierArt Luster Rag but was not impressed. Dmax with PK ink was only about 1.4 vs 1.8 with MK. Using the latter ink produced pronounced gloss differential and ink rub off in dark areas. The paper is heavy but also quite stiff (like cardboard) and subject to curl (did this right out of the box). Color is off white. Surface coating looks like any RC luster and is also sensitive to scuffing and finger marks. Prints also have annoying surface reflections, like RC luster papers. Not at all like the Hahnemuhle Photo Rag Satin which has a more subtle finish. --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, Carl Schofield <scho@m...> wrote:

Even though it says satin, according to the description at InkJet Mall, it appears to still be classified as a matte paper so isn't the D-Max still lower than a photo paper like Premium Luster? Jim

Yes, the dmax is lower than RC papers, but still slightly higher (with MK, about 1.7-1.8) than regular matte cotton papers.

Even though it says satin, according to the description at InkJet
Mall, it appears to still be classified as a matte paper so isn't the
D-Max still lower than a photo paper like Premium Luster?
