Question for CIS experts

Question for CIS experts

2001-12-26 by shashinka@aol.com

Hello:

I have two CIS questions:

I am changing an 1160 with a nomorecarts CIS and Generation4 inks with
another ink set (probably MIS VM). Mediastreet.com, sells the carts without
the bottles or accessories(which I don't need) for $90. Instead, is there
any reason why I can't just pull out whatever ink is in the 4 bottles of Gen
inks and fill them with the quad inks, running test pages until they run out
the carts. Will contamination be a major problem?

Next, Mediastreet.com also sells the 1270 CIS without the bottles,
accessories or CHIP for $100 instead of $225 for the full set. Do I need
their special chip, or is there another way to use the system? I don't see a
CHIP only price anywhere, or I would probably just purchase that separately
since I have many 4oz bottles and accessories.

Happy Holidays to all!

Andy,

Contamination would definitely be a problem. Those sponges hold a lot of
ink.

When I changed the inks I was using in my NMC CIS on my 1160 I bought a new
set of carts from NMC for around $35. These carts already have the nibs for
the tubes attached. I just ran tap water through the tube lines, then
sprayed compressed air through them to remove excess water, then hooked them
to the new carts. At this point your CIS is like new - you can just vacuum
charge the system with your new inks just like the first time.
