2400 and K3 costs

2400 and K3 costs

2005-10-30 by Historic Photo Archive

Hello, my question is about the cost per print of the 2400 and K3, what I
did was replace the carts and run the machine until the first cart ran out.
I got 70 prints with size 8x10" image area. The carts cost me $15.30 each
at the local photo supply. That is 22 cents for the cart, and seven carts
times that is about $1.52 for each 8x10". Does this number jibe with
everyone else's experience?

Unless all the carts were empty that figure is probably too high. But
nevertheless K3 is expensive stuff. Atlex.com has the carts for
$11.90 I think, so that helps.

My main cost defense mechanism is that I do most of my proofing in BO
on an R200 using Eboni bought in bulk, and and do only the final
prints on the 2400. The workflow I use gives good coordination
between the two printers. It saves a huge amount in K3 ink.

Regards,
Clayton
