Hello all: If I want to use the nomorecarts CIS system without the CHIP in my 1270/1280, how can I easily reprogram without removing the carts on a MAC? Doesn't some company have an inexpensive standalone reprogrammer? I'm on a Mac. Thanks, Andy Darlow

Andy, Buy the system with the chips that you mentioned below, it really is the best way to go. I know the system is much more expensive than the MIS CFS, but since you are on a Mac the only way you can reset the chips is to use a reprogrammer that would require pulling the carts to use it. The extra cost of the CIS will be worth it to you since at most, all you will need to do is maybe turn the printer off for a few seconds and then back on to reset them to full, easy and no air is introduced. Also, if you decide to switch inks later on, all you need to do is purchase new CIS carts, flush the tubing and tranfer the chips to those carts. Also, NoMoreCarts no longer sells direct, so your best bet would be the Niagra system from Media Street since they sell that system with the Niagra name as rebranding. Inkjetart.com also sells the exact same system with free shipping to boot. You can not buy the just the chips though, and I don't blame Dave since it is the best solution to date and he had a lot of money tied up in getting them made. Terry- How did you flush your system when you first installed it? I can't find any 1270 cleaning carts on either MIS or Inkjetart. I figured that would be the recommendation, but it really helps to get an opinion from a power user. By the way, where can I buy the carts only if I want to switch over if nmc doesn't sell them anymore? Thanks, -Andy Darlow

Tom, As long as you are using Epson compatible inks, you shouldn't need to flush. It is when you switch to an ink like Lyson that you will need to flush. MIS and Mediastreet inks are compatible so if you are using those, you don't need to worry. Andy, Any of the companies selling the rebranded CIS should also sell the carts. Thanks, Terry... That's very good news, since I assume you would have to learn how to use a chip resetter to use cleaning carts.
