Original CIS in a 1280--can OEM cart chips be used?

I'm getting ready to reinstall my CIS (not the MIS CFS) on my 1280 with new carts. I didn't save the chips from the old carts. Can I simply use the chips from a pair of the Epson OEM ink carts? Thanks... Tom Keesling Indianapolis
