Epson R220 and 1280 -recommendations please

Epson R220 and 1280 -recommendations please

2006-01-15 by esharamaki

I have a used 1280 that I picked up pretty cheap. In one of the
Sunday adds, I found a R220 on sale for $50 (after mail-in rebates of
course.)

I would appreciate any recommendations, pros/cons of the 1280 vs R220
in regards to general ease of switching to pigment ink, maintenance
and if any improved print quality for the newer printer. Print size
is not really an issue as I rarely print anything bigger than letter
size. I like papers with a pearl finish the best.

Thanks,
Earl

I would recommend the R220, mainly because it has individual carts for
each ink. This will make it much easier to experiment with different
inks. It also seems to have far fewer clogging problems with pigments
than the 1280 (according to reports in this forum). I have an R200
and it has never yet clogged. The R200/220 is MUCH newer technology.

Regards,
Clayton

Thanks Clayton. Perhaps I'll run down and pick one up tomorrow while
they're on sale.
