MIS inkjet clearing ink use

MIS inkjet clearing ink use

2006-02-01 by Allan Chen

Hi all,
I just ordered up some of the nozzle clearing fluid from MIS. I assume
that I should not have the carts in place while it's wicking up from the
parking pad, right? Just checking.

I put windex or cleaning fluid on the pads with the carts still installed.
It's not going to bet very far into the system, as far as I can tell. If
there is a bad clog, cleaning fluid in carts so that it gets into the
interior of the head will have a more dramatic effect.

Good luck.

Another question - should I leave the printer on? I thought the nozzles
are closed when the printer is off?

That last question will require a longer explanation that I can give
at the moment, and probably require so pictures that I'll have to
find. Short answer is that there is a tech.paper on the Epson
corporate site that explains how the printheads work. I'll look for
that link later this weekend.

The really short answer is that the nozzles never close.

When you put the Windex on the capping station, the printer should be
off. Then when yopu turn it back on, the printer will suck all the
(now) dissolved ink into the waste system, which will help to keep
that free from problems too.

Like Greg suggested, I have the printer off and move the head over to the
left to soak the parking pad. To do this, you have to move the top of the
gear on the far left inside the printer toward you to lower a peg that holds
the print head in its parking position at the right. Then when the pads are
soaked and clean, move the head back to its position on the right, move the
gear away from you and turn the printer back on.
