MIS Nozzle fluid vs. Windex no drip

MIS Nozzle fluid vs. Windex no drip

2006-02-27 by cloudswimmer7774

Hello, I see MIS sells Nozzle cleaning fluid.Anyone have any
experience with it vs. Windex no drip?I'm going to order a direct
injection kit and some empty spongeless carts to cover my bases to get
my 1160 (hopefully) working smoothly. Will try direct injection first,
and then if needed fill the carts with fluid and run cleaning
cycles.Thanks!

Don't recall if one was from MIS, but I know that they all seem to have
an ammonia base, as
does Windex. The difference is that windex is a more concentrated
solution than the
cleaning cartridges, so I was warned to be careful -- that the straight
windex possibly could cause some
damage. That did not happen -- the windex worked fine. The other
difference is that windex
has a blue dye in it, but that too, did not seem to affect it's
usefulness.

However, if I were you, I would not use Windex No Drip, just the
original stuff. There has to be some
additional (unknown) chemistry which makes it not drip. It might be a
thickener, with which you would
not want to chance gumming up the print heads.

My opinion!

if you need something REALLY strong

The ammonia smell from the second product is really strong.

Hi;

I;ve used nothing but Windex for the 3 years I've been messing with
these machines, it works fine. I agree you should not use the no-drip
variety. Direct injection is far more effective as a fast solution than
carts & cleaning cycles. If a straight-through injection doesn't do it,
try GENTLY pumping fluid in and then sucking it back out, using a fresh
load each time. Finish by leaving the head full of Windex, so it
doesn't run dry when you test it.

Best luck,

I concur. Where normal cleaning solutions failed in weeks of soaking, etc.,
the windex in the cart approach took care of the clogs in half a day of
sitting and maybe one or two cleaning cycles. Actually, what I used was an
off-brand that just happened to be sitting around -- "Sunny Select Window
Cleaner with Ammonia."
