Digital BW, The Print

I  print on th e1160 and have observed that with the normal curves for the
VMs, the prints get too dark in the  darker greys and the highlights not
light enough either, I apply a kind of correction curve but this is not
really the way as it makes something first darker then light again.

Has anyone observed this as well?

dies ist möglicherweise ein Problem der Monitorkalibirierung..
Haben Sie die Farbeinstellungen in Photoshop an die neue 
Tinte angepasst (d. h. einen nativen Graukeil unkorrigiert 
gedruckt - und das Ergebnis mit der Monitordarstellung 
verglichen, um dann ggf. die Monitordarstellung zu korrigieren?).
Danach sollte Ihr Druckergebnis der Monitordarstellung auch 
ohne "correction curve" entsprechen.

Bernie:

Are you sure your image is in sRGB color space and you set your 
printer space profile to Same As Source?  I work in AdobeRGB and 
sometimes forget to convert to sRGB. All of Paul Roarks curves are 
setup to work with sRGB.  Paul, in another post somewhere, said that 
this is an artifact of history and if he had to do it again he'd go 
with AdobeRGB.
