Silver Rag and IJC/OPM: which K

Silver Rag and IJC/OPM: which K

2006-04-11 by edrudolpho

Hi all.... I checked in at the Bowhaus site and noticed that the
latest version of IJC has a profile for Silver Rag and K3 inks. But
their profile uses the MK. Is that going to work? I thought I
recalled posts from beta testers saying that Silver Rag really needs PK.

Bowhaus is doing some very interesting things with their rip. Yes it's possible to print on
glossy paper with Matte ink installed using IJC/OPM.

You are limited with printing B+W and toned B+W however.

IJC uses the Light Black, Light Light Black, Light Cyan and Light Magenta. Dmax is not as high
as using Photo Black but dmax isn't everything. I just started building profiles with IJC so I'll
get back to you on the dmax with Matte ink installed.

The IJC/OPM profiles I've seen for the R2400 use cyan and magenta
along with the LK to make the densest end of the scale, with the LLK
and LM at the lighter end, avoiding the MK. I don't have the cyan or
magenta in my setup, so I can't test them. A quick test with K3 LK, K3
LC and R800 (light) blue gave me a density of 1.8 on CMSR.

Best,
Helen

You are going to sacrafice a lot of print longevity by using all these
color inks however. The less carbon in there the less permanence.
