New Canon pigment printers compared to Epson

New Canon pigment printers compared to Epson

2006-04-26 by Bernie Ess

Here is a quotation from the http://www.digitalweddingreview.com/ site:

"I also did a side by side test of B&W prints on the new canon pigment
based printer versus the Epson K3 print (4800). The Epson seemed to be
slightly warmer. The date for the release of the canon printer will be
probably be this fall. It has apparently been pushed back a bit from
the original target date."

I am still on my 2100 and would like to keep it, however I'd also like
to have a newer printer for both color and b&w, but I will wait until
reliable reviews are out for the new Canons. It they are good, there
could at last be some competition, making Epson even rethink their
pricing policy, specially for inks. I never understood why the one who
consumes and buys more of a consimable (ink) is not given rebates,
like a pack of 3 cartridges for the price of 2, or something of the like.

I hope for Canon.

I suspect it was sitting closer to the furnace.

Yes, just a bit more info would be helpful. For B&W in particular I'd look for reports here.
There's an incredible amount of misinformation out there, and questionalbe on line
expertise.

Re: New Canon pigment printers compared to Epson (now HP)

2006-05-01 by Nick H. Nugent

Now HP just introduced a new pigment based tabloid sized printer
Photosmart Pro B9180. So far it looks like it's built like my
Designjet 30 in terms of ink delivery system and internal closed loop
calibration. I'll either wait for a pigment version of my DJ30 or
(Wasatch) RIP support of the new printer I'll be a happy camper. So
far I thoroughly enjoy extremely low maintenance and 3rd-party ink
support. A new pigment HP with reliability and ink frugality similar
to my current printer will be a dream come true.
