Best way to print mixed bw and color?

Best way to print mixed bw and color?

2006-05-01 by Michael Hung

Hi group..

I have some partially "hand colored" b/w photos. What's the best way
to print them on a 2400 (or 4800)? Could the ABW mode work?

Thanks
Michael

I know of two options; 1) Image Print and let it print your color & B&W
portions, or two- your regular color driver. I opt for making those type
image with my Epson driver on the 4800. Why! Well, I made some attempts with
IP, and either due to bad profiles or my own workflow, IP was moving my
feathered edges to far. With PS and the Epson driver, I "handcolor" prints
all the time and never see the feathered edges.

The advantage to IP would be possibly in changing the "color" of your B&W
portion; warm to cool.

Without getting involved with adavanced science fiction (there are some
interesting, but way out ideas on this topic), the answer is that they need to be
printed in color mode, and a custom ICC Profile will make the B&W portions a
lot more palatable in the process...
