Hi, I'm wondering if anyone has experienced any sort of clogging issues with the R2400. I know that clogging was an issue with ink printers when using pigments, like the 1280/90, but seeing the R2400 is designed for pigments this shouldn't be a problem anymore, should it? How about when using 3rd party pigments like the MIS K4 set? Thanks-- Jens

I've had a 2400 since last August and have had no clogging problems. I don't even bother doing nozzle checks any more, even after inserting a new cart. I'm using Epson K3 inks. I can roughly echo this, although I've had an occasional need to clean heads with K3, but I've never had to repeat this more than twice, usually the first cycle has cleared the problem. However, my experience suggests that clogging is very dependent both on the individual printer and also probably the user. I've owned 4 Epson 1160s, used all with pigment inks that were notorious for clogging in these printers. One got replaced under warranty for this (it also clogged with Epson inks), but otherwise I've had only minor problems over years of use. My R2400 clogs all the time. I don't do a lot of printing; so maybe that's the problem. Often when I do a head cleaning the clogged head clears, but a previously unclogged head then is clogged after the cleaning for the first head. I returned my first R2400 for even more severe clogging. That said, I love the output, and guess that if I used it more, I would have less clogging. You use ink one way or another: head cleaning or printing. Sonny

I actually had a clog upon refilling the mis carts with K4 inks. A cleaning cycle or two took care of it. -mattX-PMFLAGS: 16384 0 1 INETSIG.PMS -- Matt Haber dance, portrait and fashion photography http://www.matthaber.com

Thanks for all of your input guys. Sonny, how often do you print? More specifically, how long does your printer have to be idle for clogging become an issue? Are you using the Epson K3 pigments or a 3rd party set? Thanks, Jens --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, "Sonny" <st@...> wrote: > > My R2400 clogs all the time. Jens, I have far fewer clogging issues with the 2400 than I did with my old 2200. No issues at all if I print at least once every ten days or so. If I have no prints to make, I at least print out a test pattern.
