Digital BW, The Print

First off, thanks for those who had suggestions on cleaning up the
1280 prints but I didn't have time. I did have a new 1800 in a box
that I was considering trading but with a show deadline I whipped it
out. (the printer that is).

Question 1. is this unit an ink hog? Seems like it just blew through
the ink. I ran short and had to rush out to get more.

Question 2. Has anyone tried the chinese carts from MIS?

Question 3. Is there a functioning CIS for the 1800?

Final question...I have $300 credit and the possibility of returning
the 1800 for about a $500 credit. Should I put that $800 and the
balance together and buy a 4800? Are the 4800 and 1800 inks the same
and are the cartridges the same. Is CIS available for the 4800?

Tim  btw...the show went extremely well. I'm selling prints on 13x19
paper that fit nicely into Ikea 16x20 frames with an 11.5"x15.8" matt
window for $225. Sold about 10 pieces in two days. No gallery
commissions but there was a $275 participation fee. Plus I was
competing with over 150 other artists and photographers.

A standard issue with all new Epson inkjets is that the first set of
cartridges don't last as long as subsequent sets, because the printer
has to prime/fill the ink tubes between cartridges and heads. I don't
know whether Epson have improved the situation recently.

See how long your second and subsequent sets last, to gauge the ink
consumption more accurately.
