Proofreading

2002-01-15 by Jean-Christophe Copin

Hello all.

I moved into the digital darkroom a few months ago and I've learned a
lot from this and related lists. I now have a question and hope that
somebody may advise me. Is there special ways to "proofread" a
picture without printing it on expensive papers. Is there okay to
print it on cheaper paper and if so what are the things one should
keep in mind. I usually make print on EAM papers with a 1290 printer.

Thanks,

Alternately, you can crop a section of your image and drag it to a new, blank
file. Do it as many times as the crop fits. These each become layers. Turn
all layers off except one and print. Then, turn off the layer you just
printed, turn on a new layer and print, printing it differently.

You can proof many samples of the image on one page. I like to proof on the
paper I will use for my final print so that I know exactly what I will get.
