Getting up to speed--or catching up
2002-01-16 by picnicmetoo
I have just joined the list and while I am familiar with some of the information, some of it is new--or being written in 'code' LOL. I shoot digitally (Olympus E10 and Canon G1)--more than 50% of my photos are b/w and I am looking for the 'holy grail' of b/w inkjet printing, as someone just recently said. Currently I am using an Epson 875 and 780--have not ventured into the MIS, etc. inks-- primarily because I'm trying to make up my mind as to what to do for larger format printing--and as archival as possible at the moment. Many of my fellow digital shooters use the 2000p, but it is def. not recommended for monochrome printing. I am currently processing quite a bit in duotones--partly to utilize the ability of my printer with the normal OEM Epson inks for monochrome, but plan to move on most likely. I'm thinking about buying a refurbbed 1270--sort of as a stopgap (knowing that new technology is not far down the road) which I can convert to one of these other ink systems. My question/post is---how is the best way to catch up with this list. I see no FAQs listed for the list---and starting at the 'first' post seems daunting timewise. Thanks and cheers, Diane
