Wait for the weather to change, and see if your d-max changes again...

But do not wait too long as the pigment may settle before
humidity gets better :-)

I have found that especially with Ultrachrome MK you need to shake the
carts occasionally, especially when they get low on ink. I do that at
least once a week. It's more difficult with the small printers, I
don't know how you do that. Also be sure to do a nozzle check
everytime you start a job, that is just normal practice for me.

John, What printer is that on for you? I thought that the stands were
supposed to supply enough shake to avoid additional shaking?

I shook both the MK and LLK. . . no improvement.

The weather has been noticeably warmer here this week and the air
conditioner has been running a lot. Last week was cooler, when I
printed the higher Dmax wedges. Since the A/C sucks moisture out of
the air perhaps humidity is the issue (of lack thereof).

The other change I made in and around when the change started was to
insert PK and make some glossy prints. A number of prints were made
after switching back to MK but the issue remains. I don't suspect the
ink switch as being part of the problem but given the timing it's
worth noting.

Thanks for the feedback.

Terry.

Actually, I've never had problems with small printers that use the modern
carts. Because the entire cart gets moved back and forth as they print, the
ink reservoirs are automatically agitated.

Don't the large printers shake around enough too on the intentionally
wobbly stands?

It may well be that the printers shaking on the stands helps avoid settling
in large format printer carts. The first time I heard of a problem with
apparent settlement was on a UT1 machine that was on a desk. My 7500 with
the more modern inks (just updated the FSN+, by the way), appears to have no
cart settlement issues. (It does have a separation in the tubes.)

By the way, I just heard from a 4000 owner who reports that the MIS
autoprint program (see http://www.inksupply.com/cobra.cfm#ap ) was effective
in avoiding the separation issue on his 4000. So, I'll try to set up one
for the 7500 and see how it works.

That's right, they do. My 10K has this very strange exagerated shaking
motion when it starts up and you know that machine has never clogged.
Of course the big pressurized carts do help. However, the pressurized
carts don't seem to be helping the 9800s as they seem to clog more
than the 9600.

The 9600 with UC. Epson would much rather you do four or five times as
many head cleanings and throw that perfectly good ink in the waste bin
( so they can charge you to come out and replace it, when you could do
it yourself with the mis chip resetter yourself). But regardless you
have to do some head cleanings.

Actually the channels that I find need cleaning the most are LK,MK,and
LC. The machine doesn't shake as much as the 10k.
