Does anyone know a new good source for the Lascaux Fixativ spray. Jerry's Artorama has gone up from $13.00 a can to $20.00 a can within a couple of months. That is way too much, but I can't seem to find another good source online yet. John

I bought Lascaux at Dick Blicks a while back. I think it was $14 per can. mike On Aug 29, 2006, at 10:19 AM, john dean wrote: > Does anyone know a new good source for the Lascaux Fixativ spray. > Jerry's Artorama has gone up from $13.00 a can to $20.00 a can within > a couple of months. Yes sir, thank you. I forgot about Dick Blicks. They are $13.00 a can if you order them online from their site in quantities of 3 or more. Strangely enough, if I buy it from Blicks locally it cost me $24.00. Go figure. John --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, Michael Kitei <mkitei@...> wrote:

I have used Rex Art before as well. Both they and Blick are about 13.00 a can. I've been happily using a C84 fed with MIS EZ inks through a CIS for about 2 years now. I have just received the "parts are nearing the end of their service life" message and the printer refuses to go further. I've made a LOT of prints and can't really complain if it is really dead, but I'm wondering two things: 1. Is there a way to reset the suicide counter and let the little beast soldier on until the output really does start to fall in quality? 2. Barring that, is there a current Epson model that takes the same cartridges, so that I might not have to replace the whole CIS unit (which cost a LOT more than the printer itself)? I do have a second C84 which I bought at the same time as the one which failed, but have used it as a backup color printer only. I don't do a lot of color printing on it, and I think I may be on the second set of cartridges. I can certainly switch the CIS to that machine and keep going for now, but I do a very large run of prints at Christmas time with a hard deadline (12/25), and want to have a spare printer on hand that can pick up the load immediately if the primary one fails on a Saturday night (for example.) So a new printer would either become the primary (if it were faster, for example) or the backup, but in either case I'd want it to use the same CIS setup. Any suggestions? Thanks. Kip

Do a Google for it. My C86 continued for a long time after I reset it. >2. The C88 will do that, I believe. The cart type changed after the C82. The C88 works reasonably well with the C86 settings, etc. that I have at http://home1.gte.net/res09aij/C86-EZ-UT-Readme.htm For a little preview of other C88 results, see http://home1.gte.net/res09aij/C88_EZ_CSR_SPECTRO.pdf Paul www.PaulRoark.com

Thanks, Paul. It looks like the Russian utilities can reset all the ink cartridge chips (unnecessary with the auto-resetting chips that come in the MIS CIS setup) and the waste ink pad counter (called the "protection counter.") But I don't see any option or instruction for resetting the overall use counter. There is a reference in one of the postings on the user forum of the Russian Utilities that suggests it may take a series of control button presses to reset the overall use counter but no further info anywhere in the forum (that I could find) and nothing I see in the Help file with the utilities. Any other suggestions for places to look? Cheers, Kip Paul Roark wrote:
