Digital BW, The Print

Hi Folks,

I have tried a number of searches for a workflow but get getting a
little bogged down. I want to try and resurrect an old printer and
version 6.04 of piezography to make some images befor splashing out
and getting a digital camera and epson 2400 or whatever the new one
that will be revealed next week. Long term is to create digital negs
for alt process stuff but want to see how well I could produce printed
output. Questions are:

Is it worth spending time and effort with the setup I have?

and 

Where can I find a workflow tailored to this system - at present
scanning negs from an epson 2450?

I have been re-reading Barry Thorntons Elements of Transition but
concerned that this might be out of date - but appreciate it is
contemporary with the system I have. Have a copy CS2.
