Digital BW, The Print

Try as I may, I am not able to unlock the transparency unit on my new 
Epson V700.  Does anyone using this scanner have a trick or suggestion 
on how to do this?

All I did was follow the instructions which show that at the bottom left 
corner of the transparency unit (when standing open) there's a switch.  
Left is open, right is locked.  If that doesn't work then presumably 
it's faulty.
