Uh oh, Innova Fiba Gloss peeling off of backing board

Uh oh, Innova Fiba Gloss peeling off of backing board

2007-01-10 by mkitei

Hi,

I've been using Scotch positionable Mounting Adhesive to mount my
prints for some time without any problems. Recently I noticed that
some prints on Innova Fiba Gloss were peeling away from the backing
board of the mat. I live in South Florida where it can get pretty
humid and not long ago I introduced a dehumidifier in my studio. It
was after this that I discovered the problem.

Could the dehumidifier be the cause or is this just a combination that
won't work because of the stiffness and curl of the paper vs. the
strength of the adhesive or both? Any body have a clue?

Mike

Does the print lie flat before you mount it? If not, I would not expect a
PSA to fix that, in spite of how powerful 3M PMA seems to be.

I switched to a stronger adhesive a few years ago because of similar
problems. Try Coda (?) in New Jersey or Quality Laminating in New
Haven, CT.

Hmm. Not sure. But some prints that are loose have a definite curl.
