Hello. I finally am getting around to setting up my new R220 & MIS inks. I keep getting a message that the printer is not recognizing the inks. It will not let me print. Not even a test print. I have never used a R220 or MIS inks. What should I do? Thanks. Francis

I recently had this problem with a mixture of new spongeless carts and the older half-sponge ones. The spongeless carts weren't seating right and the chip on the back wasn't making good contact. You might really try to push the back into place and make sure that neighboring cartridges aren't pushing each other up and out of position. It took me a few weeks to figure out what was going wrong. You do have chips on the carts, and the carts are in the right positions, right? If you have a chip resetter you can make sure the chips on the cartridge are okay and resetting to green. Chips do go bad. Good luck- I was impressed enough by this system to get a second R220 to use with MIS PRO color ink and will be receiving the ink soon. --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, "tim4peace2001" <images4peace@...> wrote: > > Hello. I regularly have this problem with my R200 -- it can suddenly stop recognizing one or more chips between prints. Sometimes one or more of the following steps resolves the problem: - power off printer, unplug power cable, wait ten seconds, power on again - reset all affected cartridge chips with a chip resetter - use a razor blade or Xacto knife to trim the tabs holding the chip on the cartridge so they are flush with the surface of the chip Sometime *nothing* works, meaning the printer has managed to destroy the chip. In this case, you need to replace the chip. I stock spares from MIS for just this purpose ($1.95 each). Let's see: the chips don't accurately report the amount of ink remaining, and they make the whole process more expensive, error prone and fragile. Yeah, ship it! --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, "tim4peace2001" <images4peace@...> wrote:

Works fine with the Epson cartridges that came with the printer. Tried the tricks listed above but don't have chip resetter. Waiting on MIS for help

You can still do this: remove the chip from the yellow Durabrite ink cartridge that shipped with the R220, and install it on the b&w cartridge that will occupy the yellow slot. Don't forget: the R220 doesn't know what is actually in the cart, and you can always replace the chip later if you still need to print color. --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, "John Bevans" <jbevans@...> wrote:

Oops, I should have said LC in my last reply, not yellow, as this is the chip that is giving you trouble. Sorry for the confusion. My last problem was with yellow, and I still haven't forgetten. :) --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, "John Bevans" <jbevans@...> wrote:
