epson 1270 not printing

2007-01-21 by benny_mgk

I recently uninstalled a cfs from my epson 1270. It was no longer
printing. Couldnt get a good nozzle check. I reinstalled the regular
carts and the head isnt printing. Tried several nozzle checks and
cleaning cycles, but no ink is coming out. Any suggestions from those
who have had prior experience with this type of problem?

Thanks in advance.

Mike,

I don't have any CFS experience, but as a long time Epson user I've had to
research "no ink on the paper" syndrome.

I got quite a good pic of the clogged head and gummed-up plumbing when I
tried to get my used 3000 to print.

My 1270 was also "dead" when it arrived. But it was a matter of idiots
taking the cover off.

I keep a solution of water and vinegar and/or clear ammonia nearby with a
syringe.

I would do some web research to find methods that make sense to you and
gently apply them.

It is also useful to know the history of usage as the heads might just be
unsalvagable.

I first squirt a small amount on the parking/cleaning pads and turn the
machine off to "disolve things.

I sometimes put a drop around the intake on the bottom of the ink holder.

There are methods of putting a cleaning towel under the heads, etc..

You can remove the cart. and see if rapping it on a solid surface produces
ink.

I've heard that CFS can create bubbles and vacumm problems - I dunno, but
this would seem to be a real problem (like with fuel and brake lines on
cars)
.

If you don't get little footprints of ink from the bottom of the carts,
you're not getting any ink flow from them, etc.. So, you have to work your
way from one end to the other.

Sometimes one can jar things loose with a toss out the window.

In the worst cases, in addition to trying the other procedures mentioned, a
cartridge full or Windex (ammonia window cleaner) has worked for me.
