Innova semi-matte readings?

Innova semi-matte readings?

2007-02-12 by Steven Karafyllakis

Hi all;

Has anyone done Dmax (with and without spray, hopefully) and Lab value
readings on the new Innova semmi-matte?

Thanks

Hi Steve... here are density readings for Innova SemiMatte, without
spray, printed with ABW on a 2400 printer loaded with Epson K3 inks,
except an MIS EZWarm in the Y slot. These are average readings using
Roy Harrington's 21x4 Random stepwedge.

Density for 3 different ABW settings = 2.28, 2.30 and 2.34

Epson 4000, MIS K4 inks, MIS PK. Dmax 2.26 (un-sprayed, one week
after printing) Nice paper and doesn't really need spraying. Paper
white L 96.48 a -0.22 b 0.37.

Hi Ed, Thanks. Looks about average... what is the 'B' reading, how
white is the base color?

Should note that the readings were made using a UV filtered Pulse
Spectrophotometer. The Lab b reading would probably be quite
different without the UV filtration because there are OBAs in this
paper.

My Eye-One does not have a UV-Cut filter on it. My B reading for
paper white is about -4.7ish. Ordinarily I don't like a blue-white
paper but this one has pleasant qualities and seems closer to the
silver-gelatin paradigm than the Innova F-type glossy does.

Steve,

I don't have the numbers with me, but I have been getting something in
the low 2.3s with 3800 and ABW. Have not sprayed and use a
densitometer, so no lab values.
