Hi Paul, A few question of C88 profiles I found on your website. CSR: What is MHW? CSR: What is N-1? From the zone system... PA205: ? Per your info I ordered the EZ_W for yellow and PKN along with the 2 neutrals. Sorry if these are ignorant questions... thanks! Steve

Be sure to read the PDFs that go with your printer and it might be useful to also read PDFs for similar models. Matte Heavy Weight is a paper type Premier Art 205 is another type of paper Neither use PKN- you need Eboni. Hi Steve, >A few question of C88 profiles I found on your website. >CSR: What is MHW? MHW = Matte Heavy Weight media type setting. For the C88, the dmax of glossy papers is usually best if the higher MHW ink limit is used, but then cut back via a curve or ICC. The paper settings in the C88 driver are simply no optimized. So, I've used curves or ICCs (with the curves embedded in them) to do this. See http://www.paulroark.com/BW-Info/C88_EZ_Slider_settings.pdf >CSR: What is N-1? From the zone system... CSR = Crane Silver Rag in my ICC and curve names. "N-1" just means it is the first neutral curve or ICC I've published. It has no relationship to the Zone system. I'll sometimes have N-2 as an alternative profile, where I've changed something, whether it's a slight tone distribution difference or different batch of the paper. >PA205: ? Premier Art Fine Art Hot Press 205 is a good, affordable, non-OBA cotton paper. (Note that while the sheets I've used have always printed well, the rolls to not print well on my 7500. The paper is also not up to the state of the art with respect to matte paper dmax. The PA 325 is great, but stiff and does not feed in my C88. One poster indicated the 270 weight may have the higher dmax and feed better, but I have not tried it.) >Per your info I ordered the EZ_W for yellow and PKN along with >the 2 neutrals. Good luck with the system. By the way, I've moved my web pages to a new host. There are some glitches in some links. Please let me know if you run into any of these. Paul www.PaulRoark.com

Paul: I did a quick check and I couldn't download the R200 paper from the Inkset list by printer model area. I also couldn't download any of the R220 .icc profiles nor any of the UT2 .acv files. Hi Jeff, >Paul: I did a quick check and I couldn't download the R200 paper >from the Inkset list by printer model area. OK, the R200 pdf was uploaded. (It got buried in the wrong folder.) >I also couldn't download any of the R220 .icc profiles >nor any of the UT2 .acv files. Be sure to read the instructions -- right click, save as, and change extension. A lot of these are still on the old host, which had some funky characteristics. Paul www.PaulRoark.com

Paul: I did right click, save as, but I get the same error message for either the r220.icc files or UT2.avc files: "IE was not able to open this internet site. The requested site is either unavailable or can not be found. Please try again later." This could be a firewall problem at my office (that I can't change). I'll try again at home later. --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, "Paul Roark" <paul.roark@...> wrote: > > >I also couldn't download any of the R220 .icc profiles > >nor any of the UT2 .acv files. > > Be sure to read the instructions -- right click, save as, and change > extension. Thanks Paul. Confirmed, the .acv files are accessable from the new host. The .icc files still are not as of Friday morning. Let us know when they are available. The link to the Tones of UT7 inkset is broken. If I have the energy this weekend, I'll click on every link in your B/W area to check for operability. It is slow going over a very slow dialup connection. :) jr --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, "Paul Roark" <paul.roark@...> wrote: > > OK, the new host is now supporting *.acv files. OK we're up and running with *.icc download capability. (The MIME type was added by the GoDaddy tech support. I must say, I'm very impressed with that outfit's responsiveness.) Paul www.PaulRoark.com <http://www.paulroark.com/> _____

Paul: Thanks to you and GoDaddy on getting the .icc files up and running. The Tones of UT7 inkset link is still broken. /Tones-Preview.htm. Jeff, Thanks for finding that. It's been uploaded now, but I ran into another problem. The *.psd file won't download. Yet another file type MIME addition request has been forwarded to the GoDaddy support group. (They're going to get tired of hearing from me - especially in light of the meager $3.19 per month I'm paying their company for the space.) Paul www.PaulRoark.com <http://www.paulroark.com/> _____

Paul Wouldn't it be simpler to zip your downloadable files? That would get round the mime file type problem. Howard Paul Roark wrote: > Jeff, > > > > Thanks for finding that. I've zipped a few of the more recent items. Certainly with a large group of items it can be easier. On the other hand, I don't want to go back and re-do past work. So, as long as the ISP is being cooperative about it, I might as well see if I they'll facilitate the downloads. Paul www.PaulRoark.com

When this gets settled, can we get a URL for the updated C88 stuff? I just purchased one based on the reviews here and would love to get started.

I've changed printers for larger format work and have a very nice spare Epson 1280 looking for a new home. It's barely six months old and has been used very lightly. It will be shipped in its original box with all documentation AND an MIS UT2 inkset with refillable cartridges, syringes, chip resetter and (obviously) inks. All this for $200.00 plus shipping (U.S. only, please). I also offer a 10 day return privilege for a full refund, including shipping. Payment by Pay Pal, please. Thanks, Craig Roberts Washington, DC

Paul, i finally got those files to open and loaded. As i am not very computer knowledgeable, it was a great feat. I have been using your recommendations for my first prints with the C88 and MIS inks and was surprised how nice they turned out. When i changed to new ink earlier this week all sorts of problems arose. So i will be trying your new profiles to see if that helps me out. thanks for all you help ann --------------------------------- Bored stiff? Loosen up...
