SSC Service Utility not working with R1800

SSC Service Utility not working with R1800

2007-10-11 by the_des_bois

Steven's comments brought to my attention the existence of the SSC
Service Utility.

I downloaded the last version, installed on XP Pro SP2. It will not
communicate correctly with the R1800. No ink levels show. It prints a
blank nozzle pattern test page. So it recognizes the printer but there
seem to be some conflicts somewhere.

As for carts, I have MIS half-sponge in there.

Could it be a conflict with the Epson Status Monitor? I checked the
option to disable it, restarted the computer, with printer on and
printer off but to no avail. The Epson Satus Monitor is always on.

Does one have to uninstall the Epson printer software to disable the
Epson Status Monitor? Or is there a simpler way to disable it?

Anyone had this problem and solved it?

Oh and I'm printing 3MK BO. ;-)

Many thanks,

Denis Bouchard

Hi Dennis;

I have used the SSC to reset the wastetank cou nter on the R1800,
never had any trouble like that with it. Is the 5.0 version out?
maybe its 'buggy' if that's the case. My comment was actually
refering to the Epson adjustment program that techs use when
replacing heads, etc. It is available on 2manuals,com. Fair warning-
it seems to have much greater potential for getting into trouble.

Hello Steve,

The 5.0 version is not out. I was using 4.4. Maybe if I'd try an older
version like 4.3

I would not try to play with the Epson adjustment program. I'd rather
have a tech replace the head or buy a new R1800 than try and mess with
this. :) Maybe if my R1800 would die on me after a long time, I'd get
a new printer and try to resurrect the R1800 myself.

Thanks

Denis
