hi, i'm new to this group and wondering if anyone can help me out, i 
have an epson 4000 that has'nt been used in about a year,tried nozzle 
check ,got some ink but very little,tried again couple days later and 
get nothing.any ideas? thanks,bruce rowell

I am a humble lurker mostly, but welcome to the group.

Yes, there's a guy named Arthur Entlich (you guessed it, on yet  
another forum) who will send you a very useful epson cleaning manual   
just for the asking. Email him at:

e-printerhelp@...

Ask him for a copy of his inkjet printer cleaning manual. It mostly  
applies to smaller models than yours, but you should get some good  
hints.

From what you describe, your best bet is to run an AUTO nozzle check which  
will trigger cleaning cycles as each line of nozzle checks is printed. It uses  
up ink, but there's really no better alternative.  
This route is more efficient than artificially clearing nozzles with puddle  
and Windex methods. You need to "blow the tubes out" a little. Check your ink  
lines for air pockets by lifting the white plastic 'fence' covering the tubes 
 leading to the head. It could be ink starvation in some of the lines with 
air  bubbles instead of a continuous line of ink. Post your results.
