were these scanners compared using their own scanning software or using
Vuescan? This may make all the difference in the world...

Alessandro,

I downloaded Vuescan, but have not been able to get it working 
on my Mac.  I will scan with it as soon as I figure it out.

All the test scans so far were done with native software except 
the Polaroid SS120 which uses Silverfast.
