Digital BW, The Print

Please help the newbie.  I was getting very good B&W results on my HP 7960 with their matte 
paper until it crapped out.  I am now attempting B&W on my other printer, the Canon IP6600 
with mixed results.  Can't get rid of the color tone.  Any suggestions? Thanks
