Hello everyone, I need to make an init fill on my epson 7600 because I need to clean it. I've 8oz empty cartridges and 4oz set of ink ut3d. Is enough 4oz of ink (per cartridge) to make an init fill or I need to completely fullfill the cartridges? Secondarly, does anyone has experience with ut3d and 7600 ? I'm switching to it after ut7, is it good? thx a lot

Because I don't have my 7600 manual handy, try this: http://www.piezography.com/support/7600_9600_ink_change.htm I'm sure I've posted the sequence in here and at Inkjetart's forums, but can't find them with a quick search.

The 7600 comes with 4oz (110ml) carts stock; When I got mine and did the initial fill it used abou 1/3 of the carts, so yes, you should have enough ink. It uses the same amount, it is basically doing some severe cleaning cycles to get the ink through the lines and head. You can watch it move through the lines. I think 4 or 5 power cleans does about the same thing. Mark

I bought an Ink Republic CIS for my R2400, and last night I finally installed it. The installation was relatively painless. The documentation was pretty good, but for some reason they had two different set of instructions for the system. One was slightly more detailed. In any case, the system looks pretty good, and after a cleaning cycle, I got a perfect nozzle check. Hopefully that will continue ! :) One thing that worries me a little, though, is whether I'll be able to switch from photo black to matte. The system comes with an extra bottle, tube and damper for MK ink, but in the instructions IR warns not to remove the dampers from the printer once installed, or you'll void the IR warranty. Well, one would have to remove the PK damper to put in the MK damper and so I'm not sure if doing so is a really good idea. In addition, the chips are put in separate from the dampers. Basically, they're two sets of four chips. Each set of four is on a flat plastic piece, and this is held in place by another plastic piece put in perpendicular to the chips. Well, there's a 4 chip set for PK and another for MK. I expect that one would want to replace the PK chip with the MK chip if one wanted to print on matte paper. If so, then you have to remove 4 dampers to allow one to swap out the appropriate 4 chip insert. I'll email IR about this and let everyone know what they say. Even if I really can't switch blacks, so far I'm pretty happy with the system. I'm using MIS K4 inks with Print Fix Pro profiles with extended grays for both color and bw printing.

Thx, it's good for procedure, but it seems to me that it doesn't speak about ink amount. Am I wrong? thx

Peter...you do have to remove the chips and dampers to make the switch. I wrote IR about the procedure several months ago and they confirmed that. I outlined the steps I thought I should take and let them tell me if they were right. They also said they were working on a system that would not require a switch, but I've not heard anything about that. I've been too chicken to try a switch...silly I know. Probably easier than it sounds. I've toyed with the idea of getting another printer for glossy work but that is a little tough to justify. I'm not a pro...my printing decisions are more based on whimsy than anything else :) I have the same system & inks as you do. Works better than ANY cis I've ever had! Please do post back how it goes. Thanks! Linda
