Bill, Instead of getting rid of the old computer and buying a new one, why don't you upgrade the old one? Bob Frost.

Hey Bob- Good question! I have found that, with the exception of adding ram and additional (read larger!) drives, it's just not worth it. This is a great machine for the photographer working on their own photos, for files up to a few hundred megs. My work involves daily preparation of photos and painting reproductions, often files over a gig, day in and day out. There's just no way this machine can be upgraded to even come close to the new macs. I tend to buy computers 1 generation behind the latest and greatest- I have found that for my own work, that gives me the best bang for the buck. As I said, if I were a photographer working on my own images, and did not have money to burn on the newest computer, I would definitely buy this from myself! ;^) -- Regards, Bill Morse Wm. Are you sure your old machine is (as you advertise) a Mac Pro? I suspect it¹s just a PPC G5.

Right, Motorola chip, not Intel. Disadvantage, can't run Windows on it. j --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, Steve Kale <stevekale@...> wrote: > > Are you sure your old machine is (as you advertise) a Mac Pro? I suspect

Ok, so I'm a complete idiot! Not a Mac Pro G5 (no such thing!), but a Power Mac G5. I'm so excited awaiting my new 'puter, my brain is addled. Sorry for the confusion. Bill
