PremierArt Hot Press

Do I recall a post here recently that people were getting different
dmax on this paper depending on thickness?
If so, can someone repeat that result?
I'm searching... and just not hitting the right posts.
Thanks,
Tyler

Tyler -- I am starting to do some business with John Harrington at JVH and saw one of your images that won a contest that that JVH sponsored. It was a B&W seaside shot that was just gorgeous. But what impressed me most was the quality of competition that you won out over. May I ask where you are located and did you take that picture in Washington? (Sorry if I'm a little off topic here but I saw your post and couldn't resist.)

It was this-

Over at Kalaloch at beach 4. It looks completely different there now,
from moving sand etc..
I am in Seattle, have bought 3 Epsons from John and always recommend him.
Thanks for your comments, Epson was not too happy is was not made with
Epson inks and paper. The rules changed the very next year...

Often but not always, the 270 and 325 will get a higher dmax than the
205. It seems to depend on printer and ink.

The companies seem to fine tune the coatings for the state of the art
and their target market. But with the 205, since it's an important
Epson paper, the specs are, from what I can see, frozen. So, it fairly
consistently gets low to mid 1.60's on my systems with Eboni. The 270
and 325 will, on some systems, hit the high 1.60's, but definitely not
on all. You just have to test the individual system.

Hope this helps.
